The following are different origins of springs:

  • When permeable rock lies on top of an aquifer  on a hill
  • When a well jointed rocks form a hilly country absorb water via joints
  • When a dyke cut a cross a layer of permeable rock and water on the upper slope get impounded rock
  • Where gently sloping layer of permeable layer alternate with layer of impermeable
